Travel

It’s time to take flight with the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council! Every girl is encouraged to explore the possibilities for local, national and global travel. Girls can explore the world through troop trips, Council-sponsored trips, or Girl Scouts of USA (GSUSA) sponsored Destinations and Getaways.

Money for excursions can come from the Girl Scout Product Sales Program, approved money earning activities, or scholarships/sponsorships. Over the years, Girl Scouts from San Gorgonio Council have visited every corner of California and dozens of places around the United States.  Past and current Girl Scouts have explored the intricacies of Parisian streets and greeted the shaggy faces of Highland cattle in Scotland.  Girls have seen authentic Hawaiian luaus and journeyed to the 10 provinces of our Canadian neighbours.  The destinations are as real as a girl’s imagination is great.

The San Gorgonio Council provides Council-sponsored destinations that change yearly including our very popular destination unknown. This rotation allows girls to plan ahead and save money between trips, so they have a variety of sponsored excursions to choose from.

Girl Scout travel endows girls with more than just fond memories; they also experience foreign languages, cuisines, cultures and experiences.

In the United States, only 30 percent of its 308 million-plus citizens hold a passport. This is a discouraging statistic when compared to 60 percent for Canada’s citizens and 75 percent for those from the United Kingdom.  In our interconnected economy and global culture, experience outside of the United States is an invaluable asset to future leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals.

International travel with Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio broadens girls’ horizons – literally – and creates new frames of reference for understanding their roles in a world of 6.8 billion people.
