Although we accept new registrations anytime of the year, the deadline for troops and members to re-register before the end of the Girl Scout year was September 30. Girl Scout insurance only covers REGISTERED individuals after September 30. Lets be sure to keep all our Girl Scouts safe and involved by getting them registered as soon as possible. Please don't forget to include a Membership Dues Summary with your registrations. Questions or concerns about registering can be directed to Carolina Johnson for Riverside/Alvord/Jurupa and for the Corona/Norco/Eastvale area or email us at centralwest@gssgc.org
A fillable version of the form "Application for Troop/Group Overnight Stay or Horseback Riding" will be available soon at our website under Forms & Resources.
Basic Leadership Training (BLT) must be taken by any adult wanting to be a leader, co/assistant leader, or committee member and anyone working with money. Position Codes 01, 02, 03. There is now a nominal fee of $5 for materials.

Since the Girl Scout fun factor will be magnified this year because of all the 100th Anniversary activities, it seems fitting that we also "amp up" on our community service projects. So Central West is proposing that every Girl Scout in the area bring one can of food or other non-perishable food item to each troop meeting she attends this year. I CARE-I CAN-1 CAN. Troops may want to set a goal for the year (maybe 100 cans collected?).
Leaders can bring collected food to every leader meeting this year. Please note: Food banks will not accept dented cans or food items that are beyond the "use by" date.
For more information in the Riverside area, contact Laurie Nelson 951-785-6659.
For more information in the Corona area, contact Katrina Armstrong, katskrib@aol.com 714-803-8402.

Interested in running a super troop? We need help from awesome leaders! We have girls on our waiting list desperately wanting to be in Girl Scouts but we have no one to lead them. What is the difference between a super troop and a traditional troop? A Super troop is usually a large group of girls who meet only once a month and the troop can also have an end date. For example, you can meet once a month for six months or seven, your choice. Parent and older girls can help also!
This is an awesome outlet for girls to get Program Aid hours. Several leaders can be in charge of a super troop and you only have to worry about that one meeting a month. You can also do themed troops. Maybe you are excellent at outdoor sports, dance, or art and want to give back and teach girls your skills?! This would be the perfect outlet. You can have a dance troop or a soccer troop! A super troop gives you that rewarding feeling without too much commitment.
If you are interested or would like more information PLEASE contact centralwest@gssgc.org. We would love to give every girl in our community a chance to be a part of Girl Scouts.
GSUSA has published volunteer position titles and descriptions that we will be using in order to stay consistent throughout the country. Attached is a list of some of the potential volunteer job descriptions.
Interested? Email centralwest@gssgc.org and we will send your information over to our new Community Team Organizers!
We know that starting a troop can be frightening, especially since you start off without any funds. The Central West advisory team is aware of this issue and has created the New Troop Fund.
Amounts have changed for the new troop fund, new details will be posted shortly.
